Ruby Jean Scroggins Sanders
Funeral services for Ruby Jean Scroggins Sanders, 81, of Louisville, were held Thursday, July 15, at 11 a.m. from Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
The Rev. Curtis Rich, the Rev. John Phil McLaney Jr.and the Rev. Samuel Williams officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery with Kent Funeral Home of Clayton directing.
Special music was provided by Sandra Dawson, Dusty Lee Sanders and Deborah Abercrombie. Mrs. Sanders died Tuesday, July 13, at Oakview Manor Health and Rehab in Ozark after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 14, 1928, in Elamville, Mrs. Sanders was the daughter of the late Dothan [36373] and Willie Luvenia"Ludie" White [36379] Scroggins. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was actively involved in the church when her health permitted.
She enjoyed making crafts and crocheting. Her husband of 65 years, Huey Lee Sanders [], preceded her in death in March.
Siblings Lois Taylor [36714], Esther Stuart [], Dean Olds [36715], Myrtle Lee Green [36381], Florrie Head [32304], the Rev. Stafford Scroggins [36716] and Harvey Scroggins [36380] also preceded her in death.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Ronnie H. and Margaret Sanders and daughters and sons-in-law Gwendolyn and John P. McLaney, Sylvia J. and Douglas Phillips, Josie and Connie L. and Tommy Westbrook, all of Louisville; brother and sister-in-law Don [37182] and Katrine Scroggins of Eufaula; sister Jennie Mae Green [36382] of North Carolina and formerly of Union Springs; grandchildren John Phil (Emily) McLaney Jr., Shad (Tabitha) McLaney, Kristy Phillips (Sam)Williams, April Westbrook(Jason) Pickett, Amy Westbrook (Lamar)Boswell, Kevin (Michelle) Phillips, Rhonda Sanders (Aaron) Taylor and Dustin Lee Sanders and 16 great-grandchildren. Asked to serve as pallbearers were David Scroggins, Billy Taylor, Jerry Taylor, Sanford Green, Julian Abercrombie and Jeffery Dykes.
