James Wesley Welch, 79, of Muskogee, OK, passed from this life Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in Muskogee surrounded by his family. He was born February 27, 1931 in Broken Arrow, OK to Mitchell and Dora (Watkins) Welch.While living in Haskell, Mr. Welch attended Church by the River. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, and especially playing the harmonica.Mr. Welch is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pearl, son, William, grandson, William Payton (Welch) Rodgers, brothers, Troy, Robert and Raymond Welch, sisters, Mildred Scroggins [], Dorothy Lenard, and Cora Bell Welch. He is survived by his sons, Ronnie Welch of Haskell, Wesley Welch and wife, Brenda of Wagoner, daughters, June Points and husband, Walter of Muskogee, Judy McIntire and husband, David of Muskogee, brothers, Albert of Haskell, Richard of Tahlequah, Harold of Wagoner, sisters, Sue Scroggins [], Bernice Scroggins [], Linda Brumfield and Virginia Peckinpaugh all of Wagoner, Bonnie Baker of Lost City, Barbara McCoy of Broken Arrow, Frances Rollins of Haskell, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many other relatives.Casket Bearers will be Waylon Welch, Shane Christian, James Covey, Jory Covey, Kenny Welch, and David Rhea. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Lamont Moore, Kevin Shanks, Buster Smith, and Kelley Brandon.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church in Haskell with Rev. Donald Hogue, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Haskell Cemetery under the direction of Dowdy Funeral Home.
