Stephen Wayne Wheeler "Steve"
Stephen "Steve" Wayne Wheeler, age 66, of Pearland passed away January 16, 2010, following a brief illness. Steve was a loving and devoted son, husband, father and brother. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Wheeler; his wife, Debbie Sharpe Wheeler; son, Joey Bartlett; daughters, Stephanie Hill and husband, Don, Amanda Riese and husband, Leigh, and Ashley Marquez and husband, Jason; brother, Mike Wheeler and wife, Pat; sister, Kay Scroggins and husband, Bill; grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as Paw Paw; Anna, Philip and Jude Riese, Chris, Josh, Caitlyn and Lorelei Marquez, Corinne Hill; and many nieces and nephews. Steve was born February 24, 1943, in Orange, Texas, and resided in the Pearland/Alvin area for more than 35 years. His second love, after his family, was teaching, and he spent 37 years in the biology department at Alvin Community College as a professor and administrator. After retiring in August 2009, Steve looked forward to spending quiet time on Lake Livingston, traveling, playing golf and enjoying time with his grandchildren. Steve will be fondly remembered for his warm heart, quick wit and dry sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in the Clayton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Amyloidosis Research at Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, Mayo Clinic, 200 1st Street S.W., Rochester, Minn. 55905.
