BASTROP — Howard Scroggins, a heavy equipment mechanic and millwright, died Sunday. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hughes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mr. Howard Scroggins will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home with the Reverends Shelton Morgan and Willie Thornhill officiating. Interment and committal services will follow at Hughes Chapel Cemetery with the Reverend Britt Dupree officiating. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
Howard Scroggins, a heavy equipment mechanic and millwright by trade, was born September 9, 1938 in Mangham, Louisiana to the late James Robert Scroggins and Cora Lee Waites Scroggins. He died Sunday, May 24, 2009 surrounded by his family at his home in Bastrop. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Myrtle Scroggins Meeks; three brothers, Robert Martin Scroggins, Allen Scroggins, James Scroggins; sister-in-law, Connie Scroggins; two brothers-in-laws, James William Bounds and Henry Jasper Meeks.
Mr. Scroggins is survived by his wife of fifty years Martha Jane Scroggins of Bastrop; three daughters, Virginia Loveday and her husband, Mike of Bastrop, Linda Etheridge and her husband, Larry of Saffell, Arkansas and their children Stuart, Ryan, Kristi, and Kevin; Doris McKithern and her husband, Stephen of Ruston, Louisiana and their children Adam and Lessie;
a son, Aubrey Scroggins and his wife, Janet of Monroe, Louisiana and their children Ashley Delhommer and her husband, John and Brandon Clark; one great-grandchild Mason Delhommer; five sisters Agnes Carter, Lois May and her husband Joe, Sue Bounds, Beatrice Nealy and her husband Don, Bertha Lou Fortune and her husband Darwin; one brother Floyd Scroggins; two sisters-in-law Mary Ruth Scroggins and Bonita Scroggins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Scroggins, Tommy Scroggins, Ronald Scroggins, Rodney Laughlin, Kenneth Laughlin, Tommy Morgan, and Alvin Wayne May.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stuart, Ryan, and Kevin Etheridge, Adam McKithern, and Brandon Clark.
The family will receive friends Monday evening May 25, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
