Services for Roy Thomas Atkerson, 78, of Rusk, were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 30, 2008 in Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Welch and Rev. Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk. Mr. Atkerson was born April 12, 1930 in Gary and died Nov. 28, 2008 at his residence. He was a truck driver. Survivors: wife of 34 years, Betty Ann Atkerson; son, Cleo "Bud" Acrey; seven daughters, Nelda Scroogins, Betty Proctor, Becky Durrett, Vivian Hodges, Katherine Christie, Joy Lofton, Crystal Atkerson; 26 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
