Message: Samuel Granado 1968 - 2008 ODESSA Samuel Granado age 40, passed away suddenly on October 6, 2008 at his residence. Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Friday at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels. On Saturday graveside services with military honors will be at 10:00 a.m. in Tatum, N.M. Samuel Granado was born on February 25, 1968 in Worland, Wyoming. Sam had a strong personality and an irresistible smile. His presence brightened the room and will be greatly missed. Samuel was a resident of Tatum, New Mexico until he graduated high school. Sam went on to serve in the US Navy during the Gulf War. Then moved to Odessa where he resided off and on for the past 15 years. Sam was a self-employed valve-technician with his long time friend, partner, and nephew Jeremy Harrelson. Sam was preceded in death by his grandmother Herky Rangel, grandfather, John Rangel Sr. and several uncles and an aunt. Sam is survived by his parents, Manuel and Sally Barriga of Tatum, New Mexico. Siblings, Anna Scroggins of Odessa, Manuel Barriga II of Tatum, New Mexico, Michael Barriga of Odessa, Marcelo Barriga of Midland and Marcos Barriga of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Sam had numerous cousins that he called best friends, and his nephews whom he called "family." Sam is survived by many nieces and nephews and his great nieces and nephews Andrew of Killeen, Samantha, Nolan and Rhiannon of Odessa. Published in the Odessa American on 10/9/2008
