WEST POINT - Mrs. Birdie Scroggins Thomaston, 85, of West Point died Friday, June 13,2008 at Bethany House in Auburn.
Graveside services are planned for Sunday, June 15 at 2 p.m. at Marseilles Cemetery in West Point with the Revs. Jerry Ledbetter and Albert Thornton officiating.
Mrs. Thomaston is survived by her daughter, Teri (Garry) Fincher of West Point; her son, Robert Thomaston of West Point; two granddaughters, Erika Thomaston of Atlanta and Celeste Thomaston of Valley; and a number of cousins.
Born May 30, 1923 in Tallapoosa County, Mrs. Thomaston was the daughter of the late Lena Mae Scroggins and the late Braxton Hodnette. She was a graduate of West Point High School and Perry Business School of West Point. Mrs. Thomaston retired from Wehadkee Yarn Mill as a secretary. She had been active in her church, First United Methodist Church of West Point. Mrs. Thomaston was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Thomaston; and a son, Jeffrey Lee Thomaston.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice, 6 Medical Park North, Valley, Ala. 36854 or to the First United Methodist Church of West Point, 306 E. Seventh St., West Point, Ga. 31833.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point McCarthy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
