Nalley-Ramsey vows spoken in July rite

Stephanie Nalley of Ward (Lonoke County) became the bride of Jeremy Ramsey of Vilonia at 4 p.m. Saturday (July 8, 2000) at Friendship Baptist Church in Conway.

The bride is a daughter of Jimmy and Cathy West of Ward and Bob and Cindy Nalley of Little Rock. The groom is a son of Ken and Pam Teague and Bryan Ramsey, all of Vilonia.

Ken Jordan of Conway performed the double-ring ceremony.

The foyer of the church was decorated with a rectangular oak table featuring the bride's book with matching pen set. The table was accented with a grouping of 12 various sized white candles. Each candle was held in a different shaped glass holder -- hurricane, pedestal and floating bowls. This grouping was centered on a cloud of eggplant-colored satin fabric. A group of three white pedestals holding large Boston ferns was to the left of the bride's book table.

The sanctuary was decorated with eight 72-inch Greek columns. Each pair of columns was connected with a capital which supported large Boston ferns.

Two large arrangements of pale yellow and eggplant gladioluses, magnolias, roses, zinnias, alstroemeria and salidago were placed on pedestals on either side under the sets of columns. Eight tall pillar candles were placed on the altar railing in memory of deceased family members of the couple.

The unity candle was entwined with ivy and was centered with a large white satin-edged organza and tulle bow. Family pews were marked with silver aisle markers holding lighted tapers in glass globes. Each marker was accented with a bow matching that of the unity candle.

Angela Conrad of Conway provided piano music. Alan Terrell of Conway sang "In This Very Room"; Anna Shannon of Conway sang "Only God Could Love You More"; and Brad Ussery of Vilonia sang "I Cross My Heart."

Mr. Nalley escorted his daughter to the altar. The bride wore a sleeveless gown with the bodice trimmed with beaded Venise lace flowing onto the full skirt of organza. The dress also had a satin trim with the same beaded Venise lace. The semi-cathedral train was detachable.

A beaded headband secured her pearl-trimmed illusion. The bride wore pearls given to her by her sister.

The bridal bouquet consisted of a mix of yellow roses, yellow alstroemeria, yellow solidago, white stock, yellow and white daisies and English ivy.

Melissa Sugg of Beebe was her sister's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Heather Thomasson of Ward, sister of the bride; Courtney Sarratt and Anna Shannon, both of Conway; and Sandra Gamble of Little Rock.

The attendants wore floor-length, eggplant-colored dresses with spaghetti straps made of satin-backed crepe. They carried smaller versions of the bride's bouquet.

Carson Scroggins of Conway was ringbearer and Aubrey Viereck of Conway was flower girl.

Jerry Shannon of Conway served as best man. Groomsmen were Eric Ramsey of Vilonia, brother of the groom; Clay Rodgers of Little Rock; Jacob Langford of Conway; and Raymond Dye of Mabelvale. Ushers were Dan Nalley of Maumelle, brother of the bride; Alan Rainey of Conway; Dustin Teague of Conway, brother of the groom; and Robert King of Vilonia.

The mother of the bride wore a floor-length cream dress with a short-sleeved, satin-trimmed jacket. The stepmother of the bride wore a satin-trimmed periwinkle blue dress. The mother of the groom wore a floor-length spaghetti-strapped navy blue dress with a chiffon overlay cropped jacket.

A reception followed at the church fellowship hall.

The entrance to the reception area was decorated with a white garden fountain and white park bench flanked by large Boston ferns and lighted ficus trees.

The food table featured white skirted serpentine tables centered with a 60-inch round table. This table was staged at three levels with the tallest level holding two large cherub urns supporting Boston ferns. The table was accented with eggplant-colored chiffon and white lights.

Guests were served chicken salad croissants, sausage and ham meatballs, vegetable trays, cheese trays, assorted crackers with crostini cheese and assorted fruits with dips.

Eight round tables were covered with white linen cloths and centered with eight to 10 various shaped -- taper, pillar, round and floating -- candles in assorted glass containers. These groupings were centered on a cloud of eggplant satin fabric.

The focal point of the room was the bride's cake table. A round table was covered with a white linen cloth, topped with a white Damask topper which was gathered in eight swags and centered with satin-edged organza bows. The cake was a seven-tiered cake featuring lemon and Italian cream flavors. The smooth buttercream icing was decorated with dotted Swiss and garnished with fresh flowers similar to those used throughout the wedding.

The focal point of the groom's table was a three-tiered chocolate cake with mocha icing topped with fresh chocolate-covered strawberries. The cake was centered on a square mahogany cake plateau.

One end of the table featured a large glass vase holding a spath lily with a deep blue Beta fish swimming around the roots of the plant. The other end of the table held a large sphere-shaped glass bowl featuring a second Beta fish.

The memory table was covered in a floor-length, white linen cloth.

Pictures of the couple at various stages in their lives were placed on the table.

The table was accented with angels, which the bride collects, and frogs, which the groom collects.

Serving at the bride's cake table were Dana Boyer and Lisa McWilliams of Conway. Serving at the groom's table were Tasha Motley and Becca Wells, both of Vilonia.

Bridget Phillips of Greenbrier presided at the bride's book and also served punch at the reception.

After a trip to Eureka Springs, the couple is at home in Conway.
