Message: William Roscoe "Bill" Bill Roscoe, 74 of Big Rock, formerly of Aurora, passed away at his home during his sleep after a brief but courageous "war" with lung cancer. It was a war because he already had battled colon cancer and won. Bill was a proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters, UA local union 501, of which he was a current officer of the retiree club. He also held a past office of Executive Board Member. He spent many years of hard work with Artlip and Sons and at Mooseheart's "The Child City" Bill attended West Aurora H.S. and served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a life time member of the Phoenix Club and the Amvets. Bill also served as one of the inaugural trustee's for the village of Big Rock. Bill was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed his many trips to Canada with his family and friends. He spent season after season coaching the Chicago Bears from his "recliner" and still enjoyed a cold Pabst Blue Ribbon! Bill leaves behind his wife Joni (Szilage/Lurz) and his children, Scott (Lisa) Roscoe of Aurora, Jeff (Teresa) Roscoe of Mesa AZ, and Pam Miller of Post Falls, ID. Bill was grandfather to Michelle (Dan) Spatafora, Branden and Chad Roscoe, Jeremiah Roscoe, Tony and Patrick Roscoe, Tommy Lieving ,Jeffery Stout and Spencer Lalley and his life-long buddy, Ken Lancaster (Jan)and his latest best friend "Oky". He also leaves behind, his brother and sisters, Betty (Orin) Anderson of Longview, WA. Peggy Scroggins of Kerrville, TX, Chuck (Kay) Roscoe of Cornell, WI, Ralph Roscoe of Aurora, IL, Sue (John) Moga of North Aurora, IL and Jack (Jean) Roscoe of Prophetstown, IL, sister in laws, Dolores Roscoe and Carol Roscoe, brother in laws, Donald "Red" (Mary) Lurz, Robert Lurz, and many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Lucinda (Warne), a sister June Young, brothers Robert Roscoe, Dick Roscoe, sister in laws Ruby Roscoe, Kitty Hollis, and Jenny Lurz also a brother in law Tim Scroggins. The Family wishes to thank the Dryer Medical clinic staff, the River West Radiation staff, the VNA/Hospice, Dr Chandra and the oncology associates. We also thank our friends and family for the cards, meals, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Family will receive guests from 3:00-8:00 pm on Thursday March 13, 2008 and again from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am on Friday March 14, 2008 at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S.
