Melvin Earl Tingle, of Madras, died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 90.


A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Bel-Air Colonial Chapel in Madras. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Madras.


Mr. Tingle was born May 18, 1917, in Miller, S.D., the son of Willis and Mae (Scroggins) Tingle. He married Aletha Tingle on Feb. 4, 1939, in Nampa, Idaho.


Mr. Tingle was a farmer. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Central Oregon Shrine Club and the Masonic Lodge.


He enjoyed playing cards, golf, riding four-wheelers and spending time with friends and family. He moved to Central Oregon in 1946.


Survivors include his wife; a son, Dennis, of Madras; a brother, Omar, of Springville, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.


Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
