David McBride Carter, age 79, of Natchitoches, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007, at the hospital in Natchitoches. He was born April 4th, 1928 in Ansley. Mr Carter was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid hunter and a good businessman. He was the former owner of the Carter Motor Company, the owner of Carter Mobile Home Park, and Carter Mini Storage. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Natchitoches and also was a member of the El Kurabah Shrine and Masonic Lodge.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mina Louise Carter, his parents David Carter and Pinie Golden Carter; one son, Ben Alan Carter; two brothers, Lester and Glenn Carter; and two sisters, Idell McCarty and Ima Linton.


He is also survived by his daughter, Brenda Carter of Natchitoches; one son, Ronald Carter and wife Beth Loughridge Carter of Natchitoches; three grandchildren, Scott David Carter of Cookeville, Tennessee, Michael Lewis Dowden of Coushatta, and Crystal Marie Magness of Natchitoches; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marie Catanese of Natchitoches;one daughter -in-law, Jean Scroggins Carter; a host of nieces, nephews.


Pallbearers will be the Masons of Phoenix Lodge #38.


Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Palmyra Hunting and Fishing Club, Perry Cook, Dr. Stephen Wheat, Ronnie Dowden.


Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007. The funeral service will be at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007, with Rev. Tommy Rush officiating. Interment will follow at the Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches.
