NOLEN, Mr. Floyd, Sr. - Age 80, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 7PM-8PM Thursday, May 31, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM Friday, June 1, 2007 at Vermont Christian Church, 1201 Lippincott Blvd. Bishop Bernadel Jefferson officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Friday. Mr. Nolen Sr. now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM today. Mr. Floyd Nolen, Sr. was born October 20, 1926 in Malvern, Arkansas to the late Fred and Beatrice (Scroggins) Nolen. Mr. Nolen was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. After moving to Flint, MI Floyd fell in love and married Pearlie V. (Powell) in 1953. To this union were seven children. Mr. Floyd Nolen Sr. was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time!
with his grandchildren, family outings, and fishing. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed boxing and baseball. Mr. Nolen was a member of Vermont Christian Church for over 30 years where he served on several church auxiliaries. He was an honorably discharged WWII, U.S. Navy Veteran. Mr. Nolen retired from Fisher Body Plant #1 in 1982. He leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife of 54 years, Pearlie V. Nolen; 5 daughters, Kathy Nolen and Kristen Nolen of MI, Stephanie (Kahl) Nantambu of GA, Rita (Wayne) Hughes, and Sonya (Derick) Walls all of Texas; son, Derek Nolen of MI; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Helene Morrow of GA; aunt, Velma (Orlando) Roberts of MI; 4 sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Rev. Ira) Jenkins, Jacqueline Broadway, and Portia Nolen of MI, Merlena Ferguson of CA; brother-in-law, Daniel Miles of OH; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Nolen was preceded in death by his son, Floyd Nolen, Jr.; parents and stepmother; daughter-in-l!
