SCROGGINS, BENNIE SUE WELSH, age 93, of Tallassee, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on November 3, 2006. She was born on January 23, 1913 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Charles W. and Bernie Foshee Welsh. Mrs. Scroggins's life was dedicated to faithfully serving the Lord through her family and church. She assisted her husband in his responsibilities as a Baptist minister for the 69 years that they were married. She will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother and grandmother, and an asset to her church and community. She will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Scroggins, and one grandson, Joel Keith Weldon. She is survived by daughters, Myra Chloe Courtney (Rev. A. L. Courtney, Jr.) of Pell City, Alabama and Bernella Sue Weldon (Joe Weldon) of Tallassee, Alabama; five grandchildren, Amy Courtney Marott (Geoffrey) of McDonough, Georgia; Michael Courtney (Traci) of Owasso, Oklahoma; Mark Weldon of Tallassee, Alabama; Stephen Weldon (Nancy) and Julia Weldon Benson (Clay) of Montgomery, Alabama; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernece Welsh Cotney of Daviston, Alabama; Ruby Welsh Wilkins of Wadley; one sister-in-law, Jimmie Welsh, of Alexander City, Alabama and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at East Tallassee Baptist Church, Tallassee, Alabama, Sunday, November 5 at 3:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 until 3:00 pm at the church. The pastor, Rev. David Gill, and Rev. Don Johnson will officiate with Jeffcoat-Linville Funeral Home directing the service. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tallassee, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Christian mission endeavors in her memory. Jeffcoat-Linville Funeral Home of Tallassee directing.
