MEARL L. SCROGGINS
Services for Mearl L. Scroggins, 52, 430 2nd St. NW, will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Bruce Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Percy Walley, Dayton, pastor of Riverview Baptist Church, Fort Dodge, officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. There will be a flag presentation by members of the American Legion and Veterans of World War II. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Scroggins was dead on arrival at Trinity West Hospital Tuesday. He had been in ill health for about four years.
Surviving are the widow; daughters, Mrs. Larry Semprini, White Bear Lake, Minn.; Mrs. James Dally, Lutz, Fla.; five grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Scroggins, Sr.; a twin brother, Earl Scroggins, Jr., all of Fort Dodge; and a sister, Mrs. Glen Fulton, Boise, Idaho.
Mr. Scroggins was born at Gilmore City and moved to Rockwell City as a child with his parents. He attended the schools there, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941.
He married Miriam Wade in 1942 in Frisco, Tex., and they lived in Frisco until moving to Fort Dodge in 1948. He was employed at Geo. A. Hormel & Co. until 1970, when he retired due to disabilities.
