A gathering will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005, in the Gresham Home of his sister-in-law Mickie Thew for Harold J. Bivens, who died July 25 at age 81.
Mr. Bivens was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Orrick, Mo. During World War II, he served in the Army in Europe and received a Purple Heart. He moved to Portland in 1955, and was a baker for Nabisco for 28 years. He moved to Gresham in 2001. In 1965, he married Velma I. Scroggins; she died June 29.
Survivors include his son, Robert; sister, Betty Hull; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
