1926-2005
Ivan L. Scroggins , 78, St. Joseph, Mo., died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at his residence with his family following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Scroggins was born in Forbes, Mo., and lived most of his life in St. Joseph.
Mr. Scroggins served in the United States Army for nine years and retired from Idecker Construction. He was a member of Teamster's Local No. 460.

On Aug. 29, 1957, Mr. Scroggins married Norma Ryther, who survives the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Sadie Scroggins ; brothers, Wilbur Conard, Gerald, Keith, Dale, Jesse, Leonard and Lawrence Scroggins ; and sister, Lila Blakley.
Mr. Scroggins is survived by his children, William "Bill" and Kathy Scroggins , Mark and Rachel Scroggins , Jeanine and John Rock, all of St. Joseph; and Cynthia McDaniel of Seattle, Wash. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Ryan and Bradley Scroggins , Amy and Andrea Wolfe, and Alexandria Scroggins ; two sisters, LaVeda Ball and Velma Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday, Turning Point, Church of the Nazarene, St. Joseph. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Mr. Scroggins will be cremated under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Joseph. The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Lung Association or Hands of Hope Hospice.
