Jeffrey B. Dunham, 24, Independence, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, in Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Dunham was born February 16, 1980, in Independence. He was a graduate of Fort Osage High School, he served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, and was an avid outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Robert Dunham and Howard K. Barnes.
His survivors include a son, Austin Matthew Dunham; his father, Michael Dunham; his mother and stepfather, Sharon and Adam Stiles; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Sarah Dunham; grandmothers, Lou Ellen Scroggins and Betty Dunham; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the First Baptist Church, 1405 Main St., Blue Springs, Mo. He will be laid to rest with military honors in the "Jackson County Veterans Field of Honor" in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to Jeffrey's 6-year-old son, Austin Matthew Dunham, via the Uniform Gift to Minors that has been established through Commerce Bank to help when the young man comes of age.
