James Oscar “Jim” Scroggins, age 71, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, January 8, 2017.

Born April 20, 1945 at DeWitt, AR, he was a son of the late Virgil Scroggins and Ruby Carter Scroggins.

He was a graduate of DeWitt High School and attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Jim served in the United States Army for two years.

Mr. Scroggins was a mail carrier and retired after 32 years with the United States Postal Service.

He was a member of Summit Baptist Church. Riding his Harley, SCUBA diving, fishing and hunting, along with being a third-degree Black Belt in Taekwondo were among his favorite activities.

He was also predeceased by a half-sister, Marie Niff.

Survivors include a son, James Virgil Scroggins; brothers, Willie Scroggins, Robert Scroggins (Pat), and Lester Scroggins (Debbie); sister, Ruby Jane Poole (Larry); grandchildren, Angel Woods (Daniel), Zachary Scroggins, Austin Scroggins, and Taylor Scroggins; and great-grandchildren, Layla Woods and Emma Woods.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 11, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at Cranford Funeral Home in White Hall with Brother Todd Anderson officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Childers Cemetery near DeWitt.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
