Guy Robert Topliff, Sr.
Guy Robert Topliff, Sr., 88, of Troy, passed away on Aug. 27, 2016 at the Troy Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1927 in Jewel, Kan., the son of the late George Henry and Lucy Ann (Hostetler) Topliff. Guy was united in marriage to Mildred Ilene Scroggins on July 18, 1947 in Peach Orchard, Ark. To this union one son and three daughters were born.
Guy graduated high school, served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.
He was a truck driver his entire life and worked for several companies.
Guy enjoyed fishing with the family but he was always the one baiting everyone's hooks. He took several trips with his family over the years to Kansas, Colorado and California and would always take the scenic route. Mildred and Guy enjoyed going to yard sales, flea markets and going on their yearly trips to Las Vegas.
He loved wood working, spending time in the yard, gardening and walking in the neighborhood. Guy didn't know a stranger, knew how to live his life to the fullest and loved his family unconditionally.
He is survived by one son and two daughters: Barbara Ann Young of Imperial, Guy Robert Topliff, Jr. of Jennings and Penny Arlene Johnson and husband Floyd of Florissant; grandchildren, Robert J. Greenwood, Jr., Denise D. Witte and Autumn L. Burr; great-grandchildren, Alex Greenwood, Timmy Greenwood and Aden Lee Rule; one sister-in-law, Dixie Topliff of Hawaii and numerous relatives.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred, his parents, one daughter, Sharon K. Lajeuness, five brothers: Leroy Elmer, David Clinton, Clifford Ray, John Albert and Frances Lee; two sisters: Gamma Faye and Ethel Emma; son-in-law, Russell Young, daughter-in-law, Gloria Topliff, and granddaughter, Desiree Lajeuness.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at Kemper-Millard-Keim Family Family Funeral Home/ Troy Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel, with full military honors.
