Linda Scroggins Beck HUNTERSVILLE - Linda Beck of Huntersville, North Carolina, passed away on June 2, 2016, following a 14-month battle with cancer. She was 63 years of age. During the time of her struggle, she lost both parents, Joe and Mary Scroggins of Fullerton, California. Linda is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ralph Beck; her son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Kirsten Beck of Newport Beach, California; and her daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Blake Dixon of Huntersville. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Rose Scroggins of Everson, Washington. Linda was born and reared in Orange County, California where she graduated from Fullerton High School. She received BA and MA degrees in Education from Pepperdine University, Malibu, and earned a California teaching credential while completing her graduate work. A gifted singer and performer, Linda received a full tuition achievement award from Pepperdine for the duration of her undergraduate program. On behalf of Pepperdine, for three months each year she toured the United States with a five-member soft rock band, The Singin' Travelers. She also sang with Pepperdine's A cappella Choir and held lead roles in several musical productions. Prior to moving to Huntersville in 2009, Linda and her family enjoyed living in Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills and Long Beach, California and Lakewood, Colorado. Linda's exuberance for life, her gregariousness, and her genuine love and concern for those around her endeared her to essentially everyone she met. These attributes also contributed greatly to her tremendous success in several careers including teaching (at the elementary, secondary and college levels), customer consultation and sales training within the heating and air conditioning industry, and sales (top regional, corporate sales person and second in the nation for Qwest Communications). She also founded and oversaw The Huntington Group, an executive recruitment service for the telecommunications industry. During her North Carolina adventure, Linda served Blumenthal Performing Arts as Corporate Gifts Coordinator, and was, until recently, Mooresville/Lake Norman Community Director for United Way. A person of rock-solid faith, Linda was an active member of Churches of Christ in California and Colorado, and regularly worshiped and fellowshipped with numerous faith communities in North Carolina. She was also a proud member of the North Mecklenburg County Rotary Club. A public memorial celebration will take place on Thursday, August 18, at 3 PM in McGlohon Theater, 345 N. College Street, Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Linda Beck may be sent to Mooresville/Lake Norman United Way, www.uwcentralcarolinas.org or Levine Cancer Institute, www.givecarolinas.org. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/charlotte/obituary.aspx?n=Linda-Beck&pid=180419955#sthash.2xttuOis.dpuf
