Carolyn Sue Scroggins Akers, 54, of Scottsville, KY died Friday, March 11, 2016 at her residence. The Madison, IN native was a retired postal clerk for the Scottsville Post Office and U. S. Army veteran. She was a daughter of the late Harold "Jake" Scroggins and Mary Gladys Fredenburgh Scroggins.
She is survived by her husband: Velmer Lee Akers, Scottsville, KY;
3 sons: James Wells III and Chris Wells, both of Bowling Green, KY; Stephen Medley and wife, Heather, Scottsville, KY;
3 step sons: Jared Seth Carpenter and wife, Kaitlyn Leslie Hogue and Austin Lee Carpenter, all of Scottsville, KY; Camron Alexander Carpenter, Evansville, IN;
2 brothers: Robert Scroggins and wife, Ruth, Orange City, FL and Jerry Scroggins and wife, Judy, Laceys Spring, AL;
2 sisters: Barbara Kaye Boggs [46447:D, fb] and husband, Terry, Madison, IN and Phyllis Logsdon and husband, Donnie, Scottsville, KY;
5 grandchildren: Bryson Wells, Katelyn Evans, Jackson Wilson, Kennley Medley and Logan Medley;
4 step grandchildren: Jonah, Maggie, Alice and Grace Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by 7 brothers: Donald Fredenburgh, Harold Raymond Scroggins, James Edward Scroggins, Ikey Leroy Scroggins, George Allen Scroggins, Charles Denver Scroggins and Roger David Scroggins.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Pardue officiating and burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Monday at Goad Funeral Home.
