MUNCIE - Bobbie D. Scroggins, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born July 3, 1934 in Muncie, the son of Robert C. and Alverta V. (Johnson) Scroggins.

Bobbie graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1952 then joined the Navy during the Korean War, serving from 1952 until 1956. He was a Sea Bee who served three tours of duty, Subic Bay, Luzon, and the Philippines in the Mobile Construction Batallion 3 of 30th. He was honorably discharged at rank of Construction Mechanic 2nd Class.

After being discharged from the Navy, Mr. Scroggins worked at Tarbet Trucking, Allstate Freight and Pacific InterMountain Express.

Mr. Scroggins joined the Muncie Fire Department in 1966, holding rank of Fire Fighter, Technician, Lieutenant, Training Officer Captain, and Chief of Fire Prevention Bureau, retiring in 1994. He worked part time for twenty years as an auto and truck mechanic for Riggins Garage while working at the fire department.

Bobbie enjoyed wood working, fishing, travelling and visiting parks and museums. He was a member of Northside Assembly of God for fifty-three years, where he was an usher, board member and Sunday School Superintendant. He was also a member of Local #1348 Firefighters of Muncie, and the Retired Sea Bee Veterans of America, Island X4.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Scroggins [35353:J], Muncie; two sons, Bob Scroggins (Rina), Muncie, Glenn A. Scroggins (Cindy), Muncie; four grandchildren, Renee Loveless (Brandon), Dr. Candice Burns, Mindy Scroggins, and Jeremy Scroggins (Jen); four great-grandchildren, Carter Loveless, Keaton Loveless, Aubrey Scroggins, and Addison Scroggins; one brother, James "Gene" Scroggins [35354:J] (MaryLee [35355:J]), Dayton, TX; one sister, Shirley Hale [17331:J, fb] (Fred [17327:J]), PawPaw, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Scroggins was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donald R. Scroggins [35350:J], Glenn E. Scroggins [34620:J], and William S. Scroggins [35702:J]; a sister, Pauline Sailor [35356:J]; and his nephew, Sheriff Michael Scroggins [35342:J].

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Carlton Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, with Last Rites conducted by the Muncie Fire Department and Military Rites conducted by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
