ENNIS - Dessie Lee Young, 93 passed away January 13, 2015 in Ennis, Texas. She was born on August 29, 1921 in Winnsboro, Texas to Ivvin and Lucy Scroggins Wall and was the eldest of five children. Dessie was a graduate of Winnsboro High School.

During WWII, she worked at the North American Aircraft plant in Ft. Worth, Texas as a supervisor in the upholstery department. She later worked at her fathers' café in Winnsboro, Texas. While working there covering a variety of duties, she met Nello Young, also of Winnsboro. She and Nello married in 1945 while he was home on furlough. After their wedding, the couple returned to Bakersfield, California where he was stationed in the Army Air Corps. They moved back to Texas a few years later. She and Nello lived in various places in Texas before making their final move to Kalispell, Montana in 1996 where their son and his family lived. Dessie moved back to Texas in 2009 where she became a resident of the Sterling House in Ennis, Texas before moving to Legend Oaks Nursing Home in March, 2014.

Dessie Lee was preceded in death by husband Nello Young after 61 years of marriage, as well as parents Ivvin and Lucy Wall, sister Maudine Anders, and brothers Voisier and Curtis Wall.

She is survived by daughter Peggy (Young) Garrett and husband Mike of Palmer, Texas, son Ray A. Young and wife Karen of Kalispell, Montana, two grandchildren, Andy Garrett & Nikki Young. She is also survived by Brother Morris Wall and wife Dora of Waco, Texas.

A family viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Texas on Tuesday, January 20 from 12:30 – 1:30 and graveside services at Cypress Cemetery near Winnsboro, Texas at 2:00 PM. Funeral arrangements are being taken care of by Beaty Funeral Home.

Our family would like to offer a special word of appreciation to Nona and Kris of Mercy Hospice for all of the special care they provided for our mother. We would also like to thank Legend Oaks Nursing Home nurses, aides, and wound care nurse Kay.
