ARLINGTON - Burl H. Scroggin , 87, a retired machinist in the steel industry, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, in Arlington.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Saturday in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Visitation: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington.

Burl H. Scroggin was born Oct. 12, 1912, in Mansfield. He served in World War II as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, Company 2. He retired from Southern Industrial Steel in 1977. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Loreta Scroggin [53764], in 1991. He was known as "Mr. Burl , the Candy Man" to the children of his neighborhood.

Survivors: Daughter, Judy Drake [53765] of Dallas; sister, Helen Dacus [53767] of Humble; niece, Melba Higginbotham [53768] of Arlington; and also survived by many other loving relatives, friends and neighbors. Moore Funeral Home 1219 N. Davis Drive, 275-2711
