Notice for J. T. Melancon Sr.

Message: J. T. Melancon Sr. J. T. Melancon, Sr. DDS. NATCHITOCHES, LA- Funeral service for J. T. Melancon, Sr. DDS. will be held 10 AM Saturday, February 24, 2007 in The Church of the Immaculate Conception with Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will be in The Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Friday, February 23, 2007 from 5 PM until 9 PM with a rosary at 6 PM and visitation on Saturday, February 24, 2007 from 8 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home. Dr. Melancon, 86, of Natchitoches, La., died Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La. He was a native of Cypress, La. He was a retired dentist having practiced in for Natchitoches, La., for 38 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Kiwanis, and Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alliene Cole Melancon; daughter, Betty Jean Streiffer; son, Justell Thomas Melancon, Jr. MD; parents, Justanie Bartholomewl Melancon and Elsie Cecile Scroggins Melancon; sisters, Rita Cornelia Melancon, Genevieve Ivy Bennett, Cleo Marie Holmes; brothers, Joseph Levy Melancon, William Bernard Melancon, Lunius Melancon, Ernest Ray Melancon. He is survived by one daughter, Annie Lou Sparks of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Stephen Streiffer and wife Anna of Oak Park, IL, Jeffrey Streiffer and life partner Julia of St. Paul MN, Robert Streiffer and wife Catherine of Madison, WI, Kimberly Sparks of Salem, MA, and Angela McGreevy and husband T.J. of Tucson, AZ; great-grandchildren, Samuel Streiffer, Aaron Streiffer, Benjamin Streiffer, Jacob Althhoff, Zane Althoff, Keegan McGreevy, Nora McGreevy, and Iain McGreevy; special friends, Buck and Margaret Jones, Lucille Butler, Dianne Bruce, Bill and Linda Daniel, and William Daniel. Pallbearers will be Robert Streiffer, Jeffrey Streiffer, Dewey Page, Gene Melancon, Ray Bennett, Mike Melancon, Allen Jones, Jr., and Bill Cross. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Archie Breazeale, Dr. Harold Bebee, Dr. Ronnie Powell, Ray Ponthieux, Jimmy Scott, Sam Hill, Jr., Dr. Clyde Hollier, Dr. John Gilmer, Walter Ledet, John Bacon, and Luther Laborde. Ronald Scroggins, 48, of Pensacola, passed away February 19, 2007.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Billy Clyde Scroggins [32787].

He is survived by two children, John Derick Scroggins [37202] and Tera Nicole Scroggins [37203]; two grandchildren, Mark, Jr., and Trinty; mother, Betty Scroggins-Thronson [44471]; stepfather, Freddie Thronson; all of Pensacola; two sisters, Cynthia Scroggins [37100] of Millbrook, AL, and Michelle [37200] (Chad) Sontag, of Prattville, AL; niece Makenzie Sontag; step-mother, Marsha Scroggins [37197] of Montgomery, AL; Aunt Ruby Scroggins Moore [37204]; two cousins; and a host of friends.

TRAHAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.

The family will have a private service in Alabama at a later date.

Message: Elise Roberts Dowling Lingafelt LINGAFELT Elise Roberts Dowling Lingafelt, 80, of Pea Ridge Road, Morganton, NC, died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. Born in Crenshaw County, AL on February 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Elijah Wesley Roberts and Mamie Emma Warrick Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William "Dub" Dowling; brothers, Dawkins Roberts, William C. Roberts, Walter Roberts, and Paul Mack Roberts; and two sisters, Ruth Mills Spurlock and Inez Davis. Elise was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Lingafelt is survived by her husband, Ellis R. Lingafelt, Jr.; a son, Raymond Dowling and wife, Marsha, of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Patricia Dowling and husband, Bob, and Lori Johnson and husband, David, of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Wesley H. Roberts; a sister, Lucille Blankenship; sisters-in-law, Joanne Roberts and Janie Roberts Money; a step-son, Clyde Lingafelt; step-daughters, Barbara Powell and husband, Rex "Sput" Powell, and Pam Beck and husband, Dean; grandchildren: Melaney Ann Hobson, William R. Dowling, Tricia Scroggins, Deborah Dowling, Jason Dowling, Robbie Dowling, and Ethan Johnson; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; nephews: Joseph Mills, Robert Mills, Cline Flower, Gilbert Roberts, Ronnie Roberts, Paul Mack Roberts, Jr., and Russell Roberts; nieces: Lorena Connar, Bernice Mitchell, Evon Diamond, DeeDee Labadie, and Janice Cohen; and special friends, Sharon Nelson and Sherry Wakefield. Caron's priority was to give the most thorough care and treatment with compassion and tenderness. She fought for the sick and helpless. Her biggest joy remained her family and was happiest when they were together. Surviving is her husband of 38 years - Terry Martin, three loving sons, one special daughter, brother and sister, mother and father plus two grandchildren.
