Mt. Pulaski, IL—John "Jack" Scroggin, 91, of Mt. Pulaski passed away December 6, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.<br />
<br />
Funeral services will be on Monday December 10th at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mt. Pulaski, IL, with visitation one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service, with Mark Weber officiating. Burial will follow the service at Steenburgen Cemetery, Mt. Pulaski, IL.<br />
<br />
Jack was born December 22, 1926, in Lincoln, IL, the son of Wesley A. and Helene E. (Shrader) Scroggin. He married his life-long friend and companion Joyce Baker on August 15, 1948. After serving in the US Army during World War II, he attended the University of Illinois and graduated with honors in 1950, majoring in accounting and agronomy. He also played in the marching Illini Band.<br />
After college, Jack returned to the family Seed business. He started out as a farm kid and ultimately became a Seed Industry Leader and the President of Bo-Jac Seed Company, which was founded by his father, Wesley. He loved the challenges of the seed Industry and gave back in numerous ways including serving as President of the Illinois Seed Dealers Association, serving on US Congressman Robert H. Michel's Ag Advisory Council and as a Director of the US Feed Grains Council. He traveled throughout the United States representing the US Feed Grains Council.<br />
<br />
Prior to his retirement, he served several terms as a Deacon and Trustee at the Mt. Pulaski Christian Church, as a School Board member and on community Boards of Directors.<br />
<br />
Jack and Joyce loved attending Illinois football games, family get togethers, wintering in North Port, FL and traveling the world. Their trips took them to the far corners of the world including sailing down the Yangtze River in China, visiting the Taj Mahal in India to facing down a rhino while on an African Safari. No adventure was off limits to them.<br />
<br />
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Pamela (Gary) Cooper, Lincoln, IL; son, Tim (Karen) Scroggin; grandchildren, Chad (Janette) Cooper, Heth (Sarah) Cooper all of Mt. Pulaski, Kyle (Jenny) Scroggin, Sherman, IL and Briana (Justin) Davsko, Chatham, IL; and eight great grandchildren, Olivia, Kenneth, Audrey, Elliot, Maddox, Wyatt,John and Leo.<br />
<br />
Jack and Joyce celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past summer.<br />
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.<br />
<br />
Memorials in Jack's honor may be made to The Mt. Pulaski Christian Church.<br />

Gail
Lea Thomson, age 77, of Orland, Ca passed away peacefully on December
1, 2018 surr-ounded by family and friends. Gail was born, Gail Lea
Scroggin, on January 17, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA. She grad-uated from
Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale, Ca in 1958. Gail married Bruce
A. Thomson in La Crescenta, CA on November 30, 1962 and they moved to
Orland, Ca in 1966. They were able to celebrate their 56th wedding
anniversary the day before she passed. Gail and Bruce had two children,
dau-ghter Sue Ellen Laursen (Tim) and son Robert Bruce Thomson (Tami).
The biggest joys in her life were her grand-children, Lee Justin Watson,
Taylor Jo Thomson, and Tanner Bruce Thomson. She had many more
'grand-children' as she was known as Grandma Gail by friends of Lee,
Taylor and Tanner. She was very involved in the Plaza School Community
Club when Sue Ellen and Rob were students starting in 1970 and earned
her 'Grandma Gail' status while helping in her grandchildren's classes
and at their school events when they were students at Plaza School. Gail
was a long time 4-H leader in Plaza 4-H. Gail worked at Johns Manville
in Willows during the '80s and '90s, in the HR Dept. where she made many
lifelong friends. Gail was a fun loving caring person who loved cooking
wonderful meals for her family and friends. Gail is survived by her
husband Bruce, daughter Sue Ellen her husband Tim, Daughter in law Tami,
her 3 grand-children, Lee, Taylor, Tanner, her sister Cindy Ward and
many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded
in death by her son Rob in 2015. At Gail's request no services will be
held. The family requests memorial donations are to be made to Orland

Clara Scroggins Gilmer passed away on November 30, 2018, at the age of 75, in Columbus, Mississippi. Mrs. Gilmer was born on September 28, 1943, in Yazoo City, Mississippi. She was a graduate of the Mississippi University for Women and taught school for 31 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an amazing teacher. She often joked that she had taught English to half of the residents of Lowndes County, as during her career, she taught at Lee High School, Caldwell High School, New Hope High School and Caledonia High School. She served several years on the Lowndes County Library Board and also served as President of the Gideon's Ladies Auxiliary. And, most importantly, she was a faithful follower of Christ, serving and teaching Bible Study Fellowship and Sunday School at New Salem Baptist Church in Caledonia, Mississippi for many years. Mrs. Gilmer is preceded in death by her father, Ray Scroggins ; mother, Edna Scroggins ; and granddaughter, Joy Kathryn Causey. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 53 years, John Gilmer; two daughters, Julie Bennett (Phil) of Fort Worth, Texas and Kim Causey (Ray) of Brandon, Mississippi; three grandsons, John Bennett, Nate Bennett and Will Causey; two brothers, Barney Ray Scroggins of Flora, Mississippi and Raymond Scroggins of Yazoo City, Mississippi; two sisters, Alice Brooks of Bentonia, Mississippi and Charlotte Hogue of Brandon, Mississippi; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation was held Sunday, December 2, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 at New Salem Baptist Church in Caledonia, Mississippi. Funeral Services were held Monday, December 3, 2018, at 10:00 at New Salem Baptist Church, with interment at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Vernon, Alabama. Born Friday, April 13, 1928, to Lola and Clarence Scroggins , she brought good luck to everyone around her. Growing up north of Columbus, Kan. she was known as the female partner in a prize-winning dance couple nicknamed the "Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers of Scammon, Kan".<br /><br />After high school, Imogene married Louie Sandella on June 18, 1948. They raised three children, Deb, Dee and Gregg Sandella.<br /><br />Imogene graduated from Pittsburg State College, and worked her way up from the accounting office at Maude Norton Hospital to hospital administrator. During these years when most small town hospitals couldn't survive financially, Imogene earned a Robert Wood Johnson grant that saved Maude Norton.<br /><br />Imogene was passionately committed to do her best whether that was keeping the hospital open or raising her children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a gentle soul and generous heart. She had an ageless tenderness that touched everyone around her. Her sense of humor blossomed with age and until the very end, she brought smiles and laughter to family and caretakers.<br /><br />Imogene joins those who preceded her in death: parents, Lola and Clarence Scroggins ; brother, Bob Scroggins ; and husband, Louie Sandella.<br /><br />She is forever in the hearts of those who survive her: adult children Deb Sandella and husband, Dick Fullerton, (Denver, Colo.), Dee Sandella (Denver, Colo.) CHARLES, IL – A 45-year-old homeless man who had been living in a tent in a wooded area in St. Charles was found dead this past week, police said. Neil A. Police conducted a well-being check on Scroggin after an employee from the company where he worked called police at about 5:22 p.m., according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.<br /><br />The employee told police they were concerned since Scroggin did not show up to work that day, according to police.<br /><br />The St. Charles Fire Department paramedics and The Kane County Coroner's Office responded. Scroggin was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.<br /><br />The St Charles Police Department is working with the Kane County Coroner's Office to determine the cause and manner of death.<br /><br />Investigators have been surveying the area where Scroggin's body was found and interviewing those who knew or may have last had contact with him, authorities said Thursday. Kenneth Wesley “Kenny” Scroggins, 60, of Blanchard, passed to his eternal home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Norman. The son of Earl Wesley “Spike” Scroggins and Neva Evelyn (Johnson) Scroggins, he was born January 16, 1958 in Oklahoma City.<br />

Kenny loved watching I Love Lucy, Carol Burnett and Lawrence Welk. He will be missed by many and is rejoicing in Heaven with his parents and sister.<br />
<br />
Kenny was preceded in death by both his parents and one sister, Joyce Scroggins.<br />
<br />
He is survived by his two sisters, Wanda White, of Mustang and Anna Mae White and her husband, Charlie, of Blanchard; three nephews, Jeff White and his wife, Cynthia, of Blanchard, James White of Blanchard, and Russell White and Johnna York of Piedmont; and one niece, Gena White of Yukon. Kenny is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.<br />

Neil A. Scroggin was born August 4, 1973 to Melvin and Virginia (nee Cornelius) Scroggin in Wheaton, IL. He died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 of hypothermia in St. Charles, IL.<br />

He is survived by his son, Forrest Scroggin of Oregon; his parents, Melvin and Gloria Scroggin of Tennessee; sister April (George) Bobik of Florida; nieces Emily and Rebecca "Becca" Bobik of Florida; uncle Marvin Scroggin of Washington; aunt Lori (Jeff) Green of St. Charles, IL; and three first cousins and six second cousins.<br />
<br />
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia; his grandparents, Bertha Scroggin, and Kenneth and Ruth Cornelius; and his uncle Van "Bud" McCray.<br />
<br />
Neil attended Wheaton North High School, enjoyed music and had an extensive collection, liked the outdoors, canoeing and camping, was a talented artist and had many skills.<br />
<br />
His interment will be officiated by Hultgren Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.<br />

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of William Gene Scroggins, on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the Health Park Hospital, Ft. Myers, FL at the age of 74.<br />
<br />
William was predeceased by his Parents James “Bill” Scroggins, Marcella Scroggins, Sister Pat Babbs.<br />
<br />
“Left to cherish his memory”, William is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn, Sons Jerome, Jeffrey, Michael, Daughter Michelle, and Grandchildren, Emilee, Maggi, Riley, Colby, William, Callie, Sister Doris, Gufstafson, Brother William Scroggins.<br />
<br />
William was born in Taylorville, IL September 26, 1944 to William & Marcella Scroggins. He grew up in Taylorville, IL and attended Taylorville High School. It was here in Taylorville where he met his future wife Carolyn. After graduating he worked at Borg-Warner as Machinist repairman for 25 years. In 1989 William relocated to Cape Coral, FL and worked for Priscilla-Murphy Vacation Realty leading their maintenance division on Sanibel & Captiva Island. William loved camping, fishing, and was an avid artist painting and creating unique pieces of art. Later in life William loved visiting & visits from his children and grandchildren whom he adored.<br />
<br />
The immediate family will have a private service to take place on December 26, 2018 in Cape Coral, FL.<br />
<br />

John Tile Scroggins, 93, of Crandall, GA, passed away November 25, 2018, at a healthcare facility in Lafayette, GA.<br /><br />
He was born in Bradley County, lived in Florida for several years, and
had spent the last 28 years in Murray County, GA. He was of the Baptist
faith. He was an avid sports fan, especially wrestling and NASCAR
racing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his
grandbabies and great grandbabies. <br /><br /> He was preceded death by his
parents, France Scroggins and Nora Etta Watts; son, Johnny Scroggins;
daughter, Deanna; great grandson, Brentley Lansing; and all of his
siblings. <br /><br /> He is survived by his daughters, Darlene McGill and

Crandall, GA, and Ernestine Clem of Louisiana; son, Albert L. Jackson;

Ethel Viola Scroggins, 89, of Stuttgart, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018. She was born June 6, 1929, in Stuttgart to the late Harry Engelkes and Martha Earlywine Engelkes.<br />

She worked as an LPN from 1971 to 2002 at Golden Years Manor, Rose Care, VanDuyn Clinic, and Arkansas County Home Health. She was a Methodist.<br />
<br />
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Scroggins; her brothers, Lloyd Engelkes, Wilbur Engelkes and Kenneth “Pickle” Engelkes; her sisters, Edna Neukam, Juanita Bennett and Thelma Engelkes; and twin great-grandsons, Jack Clark and Nate Clark.<br />

Patrick ";Pat"; Dale Scroggin Patrick ";Pat"; Dale Scroggin , 64, of Kansas City, MO passed October 15, 2018, surrounded by his wife and children. Pat was born in Dumas, AR, August 26, 1954 and moved to Kansas City as a small child. He graduated from Raytown South High School in 1972 and Plumber's Local 8 Apprenticeship program in 1977. He retired from General Motors after 30 years and Plumber's Local 8 after 12 years. Pat is survived by his wife of 40 years Patty Scroggin (nee Gallagher), daughter Tisha, daughter Missy (Parker), son Tommy, and granddaughter Kinley, sisters Patti, Vickie, Robin, Jacki, Jeanie, Judy and brother Joe Pat, step-mother Rhoda, in-laws Mike, Diane, Jim, and spouses, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends. Pat went by many names including ";Boppa"; and ";Poppa Scroggs."; He always prioritized the well-being of his family and friends above all else. Even during his last days, his love and care for his family was vibrant. Pat was a loving husband, amazing father, and a devoted friend to many. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be Thursday, October 18th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic hurch, 309 S. Stewart Rd, Liberty, MO. The Rosary will be said at 5:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Friday, October 19th, at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. Madie Maybelle Cofer, 96, a resident of Georgetown, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017.<br />

She was a faithful member of the Revival Church of God of Apison.<br />
<br />
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winslow and Lillis Scroggins; husband, Esker Cofer; her brother, Bernest Scroggins [39165]; and her sons, James Cofer and Ronald Cofer. <br />
<br />
She leaves behind to cherish her memory daughters, Evelyn Earls and Phyllis Lawhorn; grandchildren, Kathy Earls, Tim Strickland, and Jason Strickland; great-grandchildren, Gavin Strickland; as well as extended family and friends.<br />
<br />
Madie was laid to rest on Monday, July 17, in the Cofer Cemetery.<br />

Franky Pearl Scroggins (nee Harris), of Saint Charles, Mo., was called home to Glory after fighting lung cancer for nearly four years, on Friday, July 14th, 2017, at the age of 74.<br />
<br />
Franky Pearl was loved by all who knew her, and was the beloved daughter of the late Roosevelt and Sally (nee Dodd) Harris, devoted mother of Eric Harris, Kadee [50067:&] (Willie) Sanders, and Dorothy Scroggins [50066:&, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/dorothyscroggins">fb</a>], dearest sister of Cleo (Emma) Harris, cherished grandmother of Janay [<a href="https://www.facebook.com/janaysanders">fb</a>] (William) Woodruff and Christian Sanders, and treasured aunt of Denita (Fred) Torrence, Synden (Daniel) Washington, Sally (Bill) Bradley, Cleo (Shaina) Harris Jr., Matt (Melanie) Harris, and Robert (Vicki) Harris.<br />
<br />
Franky is also survived by her loving granddog, Jameson.<br />
<br />
Franky was a longtime member of Grace Church Saint Louis. She spent most of her life loving and caring for others as a licensed vocational nurse. Franky was an avid reader and nothing gave her more joy than wandering a library for hours and getting lost in a good book.<br />
<br />
She loved Jesus, Elvis, and a good action movie. Above all, Franky was happiest spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.<br />
<br />

<br />
A graveside service will be held at St. Charles Memorial Gardens on Saturday, July 22, 2017 10:30 a.m.<br />

He was born August 27, 1937, in Benton, TN, the son of Joe Scroggins Sr. and Maggie Bridges Scroggins.<br />
<br />
On February 3, 1990, in Warsaw, he was married to Peggy L. Thompson.<br />
<br />
Joe served eight years in the Navy Reserves. He worked for 27 years for the Army Corps of Engineers, serving his last 22 years at the Truman Dam.<br />
<br />
Joe was best known for his musical and magic abilities, especially his Chet Atkins guitar-style picking. He was talented in many ways and shared his talents by helping people however he could. As a result, he made many friends over the years. He will be remembered for his easy-going way and his love of family. Joe made a plan early in life and was proud of the success he achieved by working hard toward his goals. He had faith in God and was a member of First Baptist Church of Warsaw, serving as the sound man for 15 years.<br />

Surviving are his wife, Peggy, of the home; two sons, Joseph Lane Scroggins [R41:0], of Ringgold, GA, and Anthony Wayne Scroggins [R42:0], of Centerton, AR; six grandchildren, Timothy, Jerileeza, Austin, Joshlynne, Faith and Jennianne; and one great-grandson, Corvo.<br />
<br />
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Deanne Pickering [R43:0].<br />
<br />
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at First Baptist Church of Warsaw.<br />
<br />
Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw.<br />
<br />
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.<br />

MOUNT ZION -- Beverly Jeane Fink 87,of Evansville, IN formerly of Mt. Zion, IL passed away on Saturday June 24, 2017, in Evansville, IN.<br />
<br />
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services.<br />
<br />
Beverly was born July 14, 1929, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Opal Scroggins . She married Albert "Bruce " Fink on April 25, 1952. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2007. She had formerly worked as a beautician and as a custodian for the Decatur Public Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Zion and attended at Tabernacle Baptist Church.<br />
<br />
Surviving are her daughters: Linda Fink and Penny Wadkins (Dave); brother: George Pilcher (Doris); four grandchildren and one great-grandson.<br />
<br />
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Sheila Brunner, and son-in-law: Ron Smith.<br />
