Leonard Niemi Sr.
Niemi, Leonard W. Sr. Age 82, of Gurnee, IL passed away December 20, 2011 at Condell Medical Center surrounded by many of his family and friends, in Libertyville, IL. He was born November 6, 1929 in Waukegan, IL to Alex and Mary Niemi. Leonard was a past member of St. Dismas Church, served during the Korean War as 2nd lt. in the U.S. Air Force, and was an avid golfer. He retired from Cherry Electric after 28 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his loving wife Louise Scroggins Hill Niemi; beloved children Len (Robin) Niemi Jr., Marian (Steve) Wilk, and Andy Niemi; step-children Fred Kehl Jr. and Kim (Jennifer) Kehl; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Dolly LoMonaco; sister's-in-law Bonnie Niemi, Ada Kegg, and Milly (Leon) Seay; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his first wife Rose; three brothers, Vince (Ann), Bob (Doris) and Bud Niemi and brother's-in-law, Sam LoMonaco and John Kegg and nephew Jerry Kegg. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Dismas Catholic Church Waukegan, IL Friday December 23, 2011 at 10am. Visitation will be Thursday, December 22 from 4-8pm at Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee and Friday, December 23, 2011 at St. Dismas Catholic Church from 9am until time of service. Burial will be private.
