Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel with Dr. Hayden Center officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Melva Edens of Collierville, TN; son, Jerome Olds of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Ruby Sanders of Louisville, AL, Jennie Green of Union Springs, AL; brother, Don Scroggins of Eufaula, AL; four grandsons, Derek Eller, Solomon Olds, Jacob Olds, Joshua Olds; three great-grandsons, Harrison Eller, Jackson Eller and Cash Olds. Isaac Daniel Wilson, 86, of Springfield passed away Friday January 23, 2009 in Cox Medical Center South. Isaac was born January 7, 1923 in Santa Fe, Mo, to James And Lulu Wilson. He served his country with the Army 24th Division during World War II in the South Pacific. He married Charlotte Winders in 1942. They both have been lifelong members of the Christian Church and have attended Nixa Christian Church for the past 15 years. Isaac was an auto mechanic and owned Motor Specialty for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents; three infant siblings, two sisters and one brother. Isaac is survived by his wife of 66 years, Charlotte; daughter Regena Jones and her husband Charles of Ash Grove; sister Jane Scrogin of Farmington, Mo.; two grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Jones both of Willard. Services will be held Monday January 26, 2009 in Nixa Christian Church at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Chad Mattingly officiating. Burial follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery under th!

PIERCE, EDNA STRICKLAND, age 82 of Moody passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009. Mrs. Pierce graduated from Cedartown High School in 1943 and played basketball in high school. She met E.J. Pierce while working at Stone and Alred, they married on July 20, 1946. They have been married for 63 years. She enjoyed decorating, sewing, and doing all kinds of crafts. She loved gospel music, especially the Gaithers. She worked at Golbro Jewelers for 13 years. Her family was the most important thing to her and she will be missed dearly. I will miss my wife, best friend, and companion. Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Norman S. Strickland and Lillian B. Strickland; and brothers, Norman and Neely Strickland. Mrs. Pierce is survived by her husband, Edward J. Pierce; daughters, Janice Pierce Quick (Jimmy) and Anita Pierce Scroggins (George); son, Edward M. Pierce (Rosemary); brother, Van Strickland (Betty); grandchildren, Wayne and (Lynn) Quick, Ashley and (Jeff) Latham, Tiffany and (Phillip) Hyche, Wesley and (Sarah) Pierce, April Scroggins, Christy Scroggins, and Aaron Scroggins; great grandchildren, Pierce Quick, Mary Katelyn Latham, Luke Hyche, Riley Quick, Aidan Latham, Anna Pierce, and Noah Pierce. Cecil Barton Vann, 97, of Marlin, entered into rest on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Adams. Mr. Vann was born Dec. 7, 1911, in Falls County to H.C. and Mary Barton Vann. He was self-employed and owned the Live Oak Grocery for over 40 years, retiring in 1980. He was also a farmer and rancher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Mr. Vann was a deacon and elder of the First Christian Church of Marlin and a member of that church for 90 years. He was also a member of the Marlin Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star. He married Doris Scroggins [48630] on June 17, 1932, in Bremond, Texas, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1989. He was also preceded by four brothers, W.E. Vann, Curtis Vann, Thomas Vann and Herman Vann; and five sisters, Myrtle Evans, Salie Smith, Virginia Gurley, Ruby Woodward and Mary Pearl Reece. Survivors include daughter, Brenda Albright and husband, Sam; and granddaughter, Samantha Albright, all of Pacific Palisades, Calif. ATHENS - Memorial services for Elizabeth Lorene "Lo" Scroggins Ryon, 82, Athens, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Dogwood Baptist Church.

Burial will be 10 a.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Park under direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.

Mrs. Ryon died Jan. 12, 2009.

She was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Liberty Grove to the late William Conley and Ida Ethel Poovey Scroggins. She retired from Lone Star Gas Co. and was a Red Hat lady. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.E. Ryon Jr.

Survivors include her children, Connie Ryon Allen, Mary Alice Pearson, Rusty Ryon, David Ryon and Richard Ryon; brother, Fadie Scroggins, Austin; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends 5:30-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

L.C "Sonny" Reagor, 70, of Waxahachie passed Jan.10, 2009. He is preceded in death by parents the Rev. John D. and Sister Alice Reagor. He was a graduate of Turner High School, class of 1957. L.C. served in the U.S. Army and was in the construction industry for more than 30 years. He united with New Mt. Zion Baptist Church at a early age and later united with Samaria Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and also held other positions in the church. He is survived by son, Odis Dale Reagor of Waxahachie; sister, Missionary Johnnie Lee Scroggins of Wichita Falls, Texas; nephews, Pastor E.B. Scroggins Jr. (Shyrl) of Grand Prairie, Texas, the Rev. Luther D. Edwards III (Toni) of Hutchins, Texas; nieces, Tommie Moore of Seattle, Wash., Nylas Saunders of Dallas, and Emma Jean Anderson (Nois) of Wichita Falls; granddaughter, Ashley Jackson; great-grandchildren Jacoryan and Ashton; other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the Renfro Healthcare Nursing staff whom he loved dearly. RILEY--Loye E. Vanstory, 65, of the Elbo Lake Community northeast of Manhattan, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at his home.

Mr. Vanstory was born Jan. 23, 1943, at Covington, Tenn., the son of Leon and Inez [47871] (Scroggins) Vanstory.

He was a tile and carpet layer for Irvines Floor Covering for 27 years. After retiring he worked for Orscheln Farm & Home in Manhattan. He had served in the U.S. Army for six years and was a member of the Black Jack American Legion Post #260. He married Alice Sprecker on July 3, 1963 in Manhattan. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Vanstory of the home; two sons, Bill Vanstory and wife Tracy of Maple Hill, Brian Vanstory and wife Kathy of Alma; his mother, Inez Vanstory of Covington, Tenn.; two brothers, Harry Vanstory of Henning, Tenn., Dickie Vanstory and wife Polly of Ripley, Tenn.; one sister, Eva Fortner and husband Jimmy of Covington, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley with Pastor Devin Wendt officiating. Burial will be in the Leonardville United Methodist Cemetery south of Leonardville.

Respect calls may be made anytime Thursday or Friday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Adoptive parents: George E. Fender and Maud Fender. She is survived by Son and Wife: Terry Fender [13120] and Carla Orr. Grandchildren, Blain Sanford, Christopher Sanford, David Sanford, Todd Fender, Brian Fender, Heather Mory, 14 great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law and brother-in-laws. Helen was a member and volunteer of Circle 7 at United Methodist Church. Helen and Wallis had many wonderful times at their cabin on Lake of the Ozarks. They enjoyed nature and especially bird-watching. Otha “Junior” Zachary, 71, Anderson, died Jan. 6, 2009, at his residence after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

He was born April 18, 1937, in Jamestown, Tenn., and lived in this area most of his life.

He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 27 1/2 years of service.

Junior was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

He is survived by his wife, Tracey (Stanley) Zachary, whom he married June 13, 1999; son, Matthew Zachary [35676]; daughter, Terri Hogue [35677]; brothers and sisters, Leon (wife, Orpha) Zachary, Bob (wife, Mary) Zachary, Bill Zachary, Danny Zachary, Linda Parks, Carolyn (husband, Dale) Wiles, and Larry (wife, Debbie) Zachary; mother-in-law, Alice Stanley; sister-in-law, Sherri (husband, Earl) Hatter; grandchildren, Ashley (husband, Wyatt) Mendes, Adam Zachary, Cassandra Zachary, London Hogue and Logan Hogue; two great-grandchildren, Lil Wyatt and Deavonte Walker; and several nieces, including special niece, Lindsay Merrill, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to Southern Care Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otha Alan and Dorothy (Slaven) Zachary; sons, Wes Zachary [36212] and Brian Zachary [36213]; brother, James Zachary; father-in-law, Donald Stanley; wife, Carla Zachary; and the mother of his children, Sondra Scroggins [47301].

Cremation will take place.

Myrtle Lee Scroggins Meeks, a professional seamstress and homemaker, was born March 27, 1931 near Crossett, Ark. to the late Julis Robert Scroggins and Cora Lee Waites Scroggins. She died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Morehouse General Hospital.
Mrs. Meeks is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Jasper Meeks; a son, Louie Emanuel, a stepson, Henry J. Meeks Jr.; three brothers, Robert Martin Scroggins, Allen Scroggins, and James Scroggins; a brother-in-law, James William Bounds, and a sister-in-law, Connie Ruth Scroggins.
Mrs. Meeks is survived by three sons, Henry Marvin Meeks of Dallas, Texas, Mark A. Meeks of Houma, and Lee Roy Emanuel of Bastrop; a daughter, Mary Margaret Strickland of Houma; two stepdaughters, Fay Brown of Mena, Ark. and Kay Yarberry of Maumelle, Ark., two brothers, Howard Scroggins and his wife, Martha Jane Scroggins, and Floyd Earl Scroggins; five sisters, Agnes Scroggins Carter, Deloris Scroggins May and her husband, Joe Alvin May, Hixie Scroggins Bounds, Ada Beatrice Scroggins Nealy and husband, George Donald Nealy, Bertha Lou Scroggins Fortune and her husband, Darwin Fortune; two sisters-in-laws, Mary Ruth Scroggins and Bonnie Scroggins; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Tommy Scroggins, Michael Scroggins, Aubrey Scroggins, Ronald Scroggins, Alvin May, Zachary Meeks, Kile Martin, and Henry Marvin Meeks.

James W. Gordy, 65, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR following a brief illness.

Born December 28, 1943, in Scott County, Mississippi, he was the son of Lonnie Cameron and Ruby Ethel Wolf Gordy. He was the president of Gordy Tool, Inc. and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in El Dorado, AR.

Survivors include: his wife, Mildred Gordy of El Dorado, AR; a son, Brian Gordy (Tamara) of Fayetteville, AR; a daughter, Kelly Scroggins (Stacy) of El Dorado, AR; a brother, Joe Gordy (Carol) of Brewton, AL; and two grandchildren, Cameron Tyler Gordy and Cayla Elizabeth Gordy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm today at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Faron Rogers and Mr. Mike Hilton officiating. Interment will follow in Centerpoint Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Lloyd D. Ryan Sr., 89, of Lindale went to be with our Lord on the evening of Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, in Granbury.
Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, in The Church of The Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Arlington.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 2020 South Collins St., Arlington, Texas 76010.
As a charter member of The Church of the Good Shepherd, Lloyd faithfully served his church family there for 55 years before moving to Lindale, where he became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lindale.
Lloyd was born June 30, 1919, in Choate to Charles Wesley Ryan and Corine Izor Mixon Ryan. He married Anna Mae Kirkpatrick on June 15, 1944, in Orlando, Fla. She preceded him in death. He then married Ruth Reeves on Aug. 25, 1991, in Arlington. Lloyd worked as a climate control engineer for Vought Aircraft for 30 years before his retirement in 1981. Lloyd was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps for six years with 3 1/2 years in the Pacific theater in Burma, China and India.
The family would like to thank East Texas Hospice of Tyler and Community Hospice of Cleburne for their many hours of compassionate care for our Dad during his final days.
Survivors: His wife, Ruth Ryan; son, Lloyd D. Ryan Jr. and Cecilia of Arlington; daughters, Carol and Don Rawe of Kennedale, Barbara and Gary Kizer of Granbury, Janis Scroggins of Bedford, Barbara and Ron Dougher of Hideway Lake, Sydney and Paul Dean of Huntsville, Ala., Linda Goodwin of Tyler, Lisa and Mark Kaufman of Enterprise, Ala.; and sister, Sara Brockman of San Antonio. He was also PawPaw to 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
