Notice for Sterling Jessie Turner

Message: Sterling Jessie Turner The funeral for Sterling Jesse Turner, 65, of Elkmont will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Spry Funeral Home with Glenn Keenon officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Turner died Friday, March 28, 2008, at home. He was born Feb. 16, 1943, in Limestone County to Willie and Mamie Sue Turner. He played baseball for many years and was a big Alabama football fan. He worked 30 years as a drink salesman with Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, RC and SunDrop. Sterling served as a deacon at Bethel Church of Christ in Bethel, Tenn., for many years. He was always a happy person to be around, even when he didn't feel good. He loved everyone, and everyone who met him loved him, too. He comes from a large family, but there will be a large void without him there to make us all laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret Turner, Mary Ann Perry; and brothers, Willie Lee Turner and Donnie Wade Turner. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Viola Turner of Elkmont; three daughters, Joanie Tyler and husband Marty, Becky Davis and husband Joe Neil, and Wendy Smith and husband Chris, all of Elkmont; five brothers, James Turner, Steve Turner, Jackie Turner and Stanley Turner, all of Elkmont, and Ricky Turner of Minor Hill, Tenn.; four sisters, Jean Scroggins of Elkmont, and Shirley Jo Eckstein, Jane Rozell and Margie Clinard, all of Ardmore; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
