Notice for James A. Smith

Message: [Father-in-law of Rex Scroggins] James A. Smith March 19, 2008 Elder James A. Smith, 80, founding pastor of Church of the Living God, the Pillar and Ground of Truth, founding elder of True Christian Community Church, where he served for 28 years, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 19, 2008, with his family at his side in prayer. Following the Spirit of God, he continued to serve faithfully at True Christian Community Church for the remainder of his life. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Laddie Smith; five daughters, Dr. Margo Adesanya, husband, Abiodun, Prethisa Smith, Deborah Scroggins, husband, Rex, Barbara Smith, R.N., and Pamela Smith MS, CCC-SLP; six sons, Dehorace J. Smith, wife Mary, Larry D. Smith, Theodas Smith, wife, Hattie Wayne Smith, Harold Smith and Eric Smith; three brothers, Armen W. Smith, Marcellus Smith Jr. and Henry L. Smith; four sisters, Arzella Toy, Callie Mae Peterson, Dorothy Jean Henderson and Earlene Speed; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Eternal Hope Worship Church, Inc., 1507 James St., with funeral services following at 1 p.m. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery. Garland Bros.
