FRANCIS - Services for Edward Clelen Scroggins, 63, Francis, are 2 p.m. today at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Richard Bailey and Willie White officiating. Burial follows at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.

Mr. Scroggins died Oct. 22, 2000, at a local hospital. He was born Dec. 22, 1936, east of Francis to Clelen Robert and Agnes May Vaught Scroggins.

He lived in this area all his life. He attended grade school in Cedar Grove and Byng. He graduated from Byng High School. He received a bachelor's of art degree in education from East Central University in 1963. He was a business manager at Valley View Regional Hospital until retirement in December 1998. He served as assistant vice president of First National Bank in Ada for 10 years. He was a member of Cedar Grove Free Will Baptist Church. He was an original member of the Francis Fire Department, he was an active member of the Ada's Old Timers Basketball Team, served on Francis Cedar Grove Cemetery Committee for 18 years, was active in the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association and Farm Bureau Board. He served in the Army Military Intelligence from May 1956 until May 1959. He was stationed in Germany and was an active member of the Lubeck Association.

He married Shirley Moore April 17, 1981, at Ada.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Scroggins [39186:P], of the home; three daughters, Christine Pohl [tbc:P], Lubeck, Germany, Teri Scroggins [tbc:P], Fort Stuart, Ga. and Karen Graber [tbc:P], Wichita, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Hill, of the home; a son, Brian Scroggins [28261:P, fb], Valliant; his mother Agnes Scroggins, Allen; a brother, Larry Scroggins [37231:P], Francis; and six grandchildren.

Bearers are Jim Powers, Carrel Bryant, Tim Scroggins, Lonnie Roy Manuel, Jerry Kellogg and Charles Chandler.

Honorary bearers are Chuck Counts, Carl Wilson, Derrell Phillips, Craig Thompson, Ronnie Canada, Jim Folger, Don Hoover, Don Kaiser, Jim Martin, Monroe Hodges, Bill Johnston, Jack Richey, Lee Horn, Riley Young, Don Northcutt, Harry Lundgaard and Bill Timothy.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today at Criswell Funeral Home.
